Single zone wood cymbals
Tried to keep the cymbal cheap and simple by using wood like
the rest of the drum kit.
Cut 11" diameter circle from 1/8" thick wood. I chose 11" because that
was the size of the neoprene pads that I have.
Used another piece of wood. Drilled holes for the 1/4" jack and rubber
bushing that will go in the middle.
I used rubber bushing for the center hole of the wood cymbal.
I Painted the wood black and attached the center support. Added the
rubber bushing in the center and fuel line hose around the edge.
Installed the 1/4 jack and used 3-M double sided tape to attach the
piezo sill in the plastic case.
Update: The cymbal will be more sensitive if you screw down the piezo.
Added a cover with a rectangle hole. Trimmed second rubber bushing to
fit in the rectangular hole.
Keeps the cymbal from spinning.
Added the the neoprene to the strike area.
I have been using the kit for a few days now and I'm not sure if I
like the feel of the neoprene on the cymbal. I may change this later when I
find the right rubber that feels the best.
