These Drum mounts were easy to make using oak wood and aluminum. They have worked great on one of my electronic drum kits. I have also used plastic wood on one of my other electronic drum kits.
Cut out the oak wood mounting bracket and marked the location of the 3/4″ hole using a template.
Drilled 3/4 and 23/64 hole for the Machine Screw Anchor
I found Machine screw anchors at Fleet Farm.
Threaded Insert 1/4-20 work well also.
Placed the anchor into the 23/64″ in hole.
Placed the L Rod into the hole and Slowly tighten the screw until the anchor is pushed all the way into the hole.
Shows the anchor pressed all the way back into the hole.
I cut off two 2″ x 1 3/4″ plates from a 2″ wide Aluminum bar with a hacksaw. Marked the hole locations with a punch. Stacked the top and bottom plates on top of each other and place them in a vice and drilled both plates at the same time.
Drilled the top two holes first and bolted the two plates together that way every thing will stay aligned while I drill the remaining holes. 3/16 for the corners and 1/2 for the center hole.I used the top plate as a template to drill 3/16 holes in the oak piece.
Bolted the top plate, oak and bottom plate together.
Drilled hole in knob and added the 1/4 bolt and locknut.Update: I now use Socket Head Cap Screw Part # 91251A542 and Knobs Part # 94052A141 You can find at http://www.mcmaster.com
